Dragon flies

I heard the big wigs talking about a new item they were looking into today.  Apparently they have learned how to make paracord knots look like a dragon fly.  I was a little nervous about having dragons in the area, but it turns out dragon flies are actually just flying bugs that gobble up mosquitos.  That is not scary at all!  So they set out to see if they were worth producing.

Turns out that a pink dragon fly is the symbol for a cancer survivor.  I am just learning all kinds of neat stuff here.  The Studio has made the first one for a dear friend of the boss, and three more for market.  They are not listed yet but there here is a sneak peak.  If you have any survivor friends this would be an awesome reminder of their inner strength and courage!

Oh oh oh!! I almost forgot!! I have new hair.  My biggest fan, and a person so famous they named a huge statue after her in Chicago's Millennium Park, got me two new sets of hair. One is an adorable pink bob, and the other is neon green!!  I am so gonna rock those!  I can't wait until the next shoot.

I had an interesting experience today, I got to see my boss turn four different shades of green,  I don't know how she did it, but it was amazing.  Seems Gabi the Studio mascot kitty decided that she did not want her breakfast anymore... about three hours after eating it.  So not only did it come up, but apparently Gabi is skilled at up chucking on the run.... as she ran under the bosses desk and across her feet.  First time I ever heard a cat and a human dry heaving at the same time.
(don't tell the boss I told you she did not enjoy that.)

That is it for tonight!  Thanks for stopping in. Q

what a day!

Today was... well lets just say it was interesting.   It was pretty hot out today, so the boss decided we should take half the day off and go swimming.  I have never been swimming before.  I know that seems odd, but where I come from there simply are not a lot of swimming pools.  Anyway, I figured why not.  The pool is not too deep, and I could just get in splash a bit and cool off.

I was gonna save this for Mondays TDS Tidbit, but I will share it now.  Apparently we mannequins do NOT float.  Well, not for very long anyway.  I had bubbles coming out of everyplace!  Talk about your water weight gain!!  So, I figured I would just get out and work on my tan.   I was draining for 15 minutes.... heck I didn't drain that much after two days by the water cooler.

The tanning attempt was pretty much unsuccessful too.  I was laying out for three hours and I don't think I am even a shade darker.

After that I started my own Facebook page.  Now that was a fun time.  So many wonderful people out there.  I am hoping Fons and Porter accept my friend request!!

To all my wonderful blog followers, and all my new Facebook friends, I wish you a very good night!

I really do love my job

What an amazing day!  So, I was hanging around the water cooler and I had literally been there for hours just standing around shooting the breeze with anybody who passed by.  When all of the sudden the Boss comes down.  I thought I was canned for sure!  Did she fire me? NO!
In fact she noticed that my sandal had come undone and she fixed it for me.

Did you notice?  They are letting me wear the StudioCalvin Bracelet. It is awesome!

You can get the bracelet here.

Hee Hee now I can tell my boss I did SOME work today.

What a great place! I got to hang out at the water cooler ALL DAY!  Nobody even cared.  This is my kind of job  I think I will make Mondays my TDS Tidbit day.   At the end of every Monday after a day of water cooler introspection, I will share a morsel of Textile Display Specialist wisdom with you.

I will say goodnight with this TDS Tidbit :   The leading cause of death among fashion models is falling through street grates.

Together we rock.

TGIF

Good morning world. Happy Friday. I am finishing my first week at my new studio job and I think I am really getting settled in. I have my own little spot, and I got my first pay check ever. It was not a lot, but hey I am just starting out. I can't expect to make CEO until I've been here a while right? Just kidding Amanda. She is my boss. She seems really nice so far. Oh back to my first pay! I got hair! Here is a pic, it is not a good one. The studio photog promised he would get good shots of me at the next textile expose. But here is one I took with my phone for now. What do you think? I make pink look good right?

Welcome!

Hi everybody!  Welcome to my Blog.  I hope you will enjoy following me on my journey through my career and one day to stardom!

Let me start my first post by telling you a little about myself.  My name is Quinnie I am a textile display specialist.  Some people call us mannequins, or even dummies.... how rude.  You however have obviously taken the time to educate yourself on the proper terminology.   My start in this field was a little rocky.   I was "discovered" by a man claiming to be a talent scout for K-mart in Vermont and that they had a perfect spot for me during the up coming back-to-school event.  Turns out he wanted me to work in the intimates section....

So I had a friend throw me in a box and ship me to a studio Illinois where I am currently the chief textile display specialist.  I have two hand display technicians working under me so I guess it is kind of a management job.  I am finally moving up.  That is me to right on my first day at the job.  I think I look a little stiff here, but I know I will get better with practice.

I have already done 10 or so textile displays.  The work is ok so far.  I was not happy when I was told I would not be allowed to wear anything during the shoot because it would detract from the product.  I had been told it would be asked of me as a textile display specialist, but it took some getting used to.  I did get to wear a bracelet for some of them.  The picture to the left is one of my first shoots.  It shows my bum.. although I have to admit, it is a nice one.  I hope they are not too risque, but hey this is high fashion right?  OK That is it for tonight

Good night everybody!
