I have new hair!!

What do you think?  I am looking for a kimono to go with it.  When I get one I am going to make Edgar take me to a hibachi grill!

The halloween party

So it was Halloween and the zombies were all having a huge pinochle tournament.  I was getting ready to go to a party with Edgar.  This was my costume.  I am a space girl.  Hee hee  space girls WISH they could look this good.
I had not decided what hair to wear yet I almost went as a bald space chick, but I had too many options to let that happen.:)
I went with the blue because it accents my eye...areas.... don't you agree?
Here is me trying on the green hair, in this one you get the full look of the outfit.

So, Anyway I found out that Edgar just got a new job at a straw mat factory, he says he can really put himself into his work not.  Just as well I guess.  His job as a agricultural vermin deterrent specialist was only seasonal.   I'm very excited for him, as long as he does not lose himself in his job

and it just keeps getting better!

This is so very exciting!  I have been approached by a major design company to have my own line of greeting cards!  I almost had to pinch myself to see if it was a dream.  I don't know details yet but apparently they are going to be taking a ton of pictures of me and using them for greeting cards!  How cool is that?  I have been thinking about it all day! What will the line be called?  Quinnies cards? Mannique's messages? oh oh oh Q box greetings!  No, wait that will probably get me sued.  oh well I will leave that to the pro's.  My job is to rock the shoot like I always do!  I think I will try to write a couple of the cards too, then I will get double pay!

Just think soon your birthday will be the best ever cause you will be getting a picture of me!!

Ta for now!  Q

I am a star!

I knew it was only a matter of time!  I am now being officially acknowledged in the recent StudioCalvin sale of Blue Girl, I will miss her, and I have been requested to do a photo shoot with a VERY prestigious modeling agency.  Maybe you have heard of them?  (I think it is the Brookings Institute) I am going to be photographed by the legendary Melanie Brooking!! Eat your heart out Naomi Campbell!

I think I even get a sales commission for Blue girl since they named me specifically.  I need to talk to Amanda about getting me a makeup artist.  I really am getting too important to do my own hair and makeup.

OK Mel, I am gonna get my game on and rock your shoot!  Lets do it!!

Fons & Porter?  Are you out there?  I can't wait to be on your magazine!

in the danger zone

We went for a walk again today.  Apparently Rob and Amanda are thrill seekers cause we went right back to where we saw the bear!  I took a picture of the area, so if you walk there you will know to be careful!  I looked for bear tracks but I think it was windy or something cause there weren't any.  I wish Edgar had been with us.  I'm not sure a bear is considered an agricultural vermin but My little straw man Eddie said  he would have jumped between me and that mean old bear.  He is such a sweetie.

River and Stevie are finished and are about to move into their Zombie Containment Units.  You should be getting a full pic spread soon.  Rob is interviewing them to make sure their bios are accurate.

Thanks for dropping in and watch out for bears!

Q

OHH! Butt tags

Now I get it! I took Blue girl aside and asked her what a butt tag was. I didn't know Zombies could blush, but I think she did a little. She turned around and lifted her skirt. There it was plain as day…A little tiny baby tag with the StudioCalvin logo. It was adorable! Blue girl said she was really proud of her tag, because it made her an member of a very select set of Zombies. I was talking to Larry and he said he had written to a bunch of his friends who were all asking how to apply to be a DDZ (Doll of the Dead Zombie) .

According to Larry, the first allowed into the DDZ, it was pretty tough to get in. Remember Pinky? she didn't make the cut. Don't tell her that. It will break her heart. We told her she was too valuable to the team to let her go, and that someday she could be in the Smithsonian as the inspiration to the DDZs.

Gotta scoot! Happy Monday! Q

OH OH OH TDS Tid Bit time!

The plastic things on the end of shoelaces are called aglets. Just so you know.

River and Stevie

OK, Rob said no pics tonight. He said they are not quite ready for their public release yet, I guess River still needs a mouth or something and neither one has their butt tag, whatever that means.  Don't tell Rob, but I snuck my phone in and snapped a couple quick ones to show you.... pardon the quality.  I'm sure Rob will do better when they have butt tags.... what a silly thing.

<----  So this is Stevie he keeps gloating about being steam punk.  I do not think it means what he thinks it means.

<----- This is River the Zombie Hippy.    I have not had the heart to tell River that the '60s called and wants their pants back.

New DDZs!

So Tic's spot in not even cold... well ok maybe it is 'cause zombies don't produce body heat.  He is only just on his way and two more zombies meander in!  Stevie and River.   Stevie, from what I am hearing, used to be a computer nerd.  He says the last thing he remembers from his non-undead days was trying to over clock his new CPU by 3000 %.  I have no idea what that means, but  apparently it  exploded and he is now covered in computer bits.  He seems nice tho, just a bit of a nerd.  River is an old hippy who is all about green this and save the earth that... I bet I will still get trounced at cards.  Oh well.  I'll try to goad Rob into getting some pictures tonight, if he does I'll post em!

Tic finds a home

Now I won't do this for every one of the DDZs cause, well some of them, I am pretty sure, cheat at cards.  Tic, however was not one of them.  He is a great little guy and I am delighted to say he has found a home!  congratulations to you Tic, you were almost every bodies favorite.  To bad you came from a small remnant of cloth, there will be no other Tic.  Live well, .... well... not exactly live... ok .. be happy Tic we will miss you!

AHHH!! This is where I left my blog!

I wondered where I left it.  It has been a while so I thought I would fill you all in on my latest activity!

I have to tell you all what happened last night.

We were all out for a walk after dark and we are walking down a street that is divided with trees shrubs and a winding path down the middle.  We are all talking and joking around when I hear Rob say, oh hello kitty... and Teeny Screams THAT IS NOT A CAT!!! She then hides behind Rob.  Well Amanda and I had been talking and looking the other way so I just froze... My years of experience as a Textile Display Specialist probably saved my life here.... Amanda says: "What is not a cat?"

Well I look over to see this black blurr running towards us!! It was HUGE!  My first thought was... what the heck is a bear doing in town... then all I could think was oh no... you are supposed to play dead for a bear and I was too scared to move.. I just stood there! No doubt looking like a giant bear treat.  I knew I was done for.  My life literally flashed before my eyes... that was a short flash and one for later discussion... but it happened none the less....

Then as the great beast closed the distance close enough to strike I closed my eyes and tried to find a happy place...

That is when I hear Teen say... Oh it's a puppy!!  I thought she had gone mad with fear and was also looking for her happy place... I kept my eyes shut and prepared to feel the hot breath of the massive bear...

The next thing I hear is giggling and laughing... how sad I thought. If only I were brave enough to laugh in the face of a bear.  I opened one eye and saw Amanda Teen and Rob bent down and petting a small dog.  I can only guess that it had charged in at the last moment and scared the bear away!  Brave little animal. I am going to give it a treat the next time I see it for saving us from the bear.

OK, that is it for now I am off to see Edgar, the agricultural vermin deterant engineer.  He has some consoling to do. ;)

Later!  Q

It is Monday!

Well, what started out as a great weekend only got better!  The Armalite pitch went swimmingly (sorry Rob.)  The ripped pool cover is on order and the cameras will be replaced soon.  Rob seems to have come out of his funk a little, and I started talking to a great new guy working in the Agricultural Vermin Deterrent field.

His name is Edgar.  He looks pretty rough when he first gets off work, but when he changes out of his bib-overalls and tucks in his straw (be nice)  he looks pretty darn good!  He knows all the corn jokes... I had no idea there were that many.  He also knows the call and look of every bird in the area.  I could listen to him talk for hours!

It is Monday you know what that means!  YUP! the TDS Tidbit!
so here it is.... this time in poem form

He who stands too near the pool
risks sopping clothes and loss of tool
and falling can scare the boss
she could not care less of your tool loss

but through it all keep your chin high
for it's only things that you can buy
a broken thing you can replace...
but if you get hurt she'll smack your face.

OK actually she got scared and cried... but i couldn't get that to rhyme :)
Ta for now! Q

There is another batch of Zombies that just moved in, but I don't think they will be staying long.  Rob took their pictures today to help find them a new home.  It was pretty sad watching him try to pose them and act all professional using a little tiny baby point and shoot.  Hee Hee.

Any way here they are, I call them (from left to right) Larry, Blue Girl (BG), Tic, and Flame, but you can call them anything you want. :)

More later!

Hey Everybody!

I know I know, I've been gone a while.  Sorry some times I just get so caught up in life that I forget to make time for the things I enjoy.

Looks like there won't be any new pictures for a while.  Rob tried to do some underwater photography and killed his cameras.  Well he wasn't really trying underwater shots... but he did find out that the pool cover is secretly a Nikon fan.

So we went to Armalite in Geneseo yesterday.  Looks like they are going to advertise our slings on their web pages, and take pictures of the sling on their custom rifles.   Looks like Rob is gonna be a knot tying dude.  Sweet.  Rob schmoozed hard but was unable to get them to give him a sample rifle.  I am pretty sure they saw the picture of me with the rifle slung, (Rob taught me that term) and that is what sold them.

They asked for a few simple modifications, so I got to spend the day surfing the web trying to find a supplier for the parts to make the production model sling.  I found them though,  so by this time next week, there will be a knot tying flurry.  Maybe I will even get into the groove and do some slinging!

I know you are all dying to know what is going on with Dominick.   Long story short... NOTHING!  I have sworn off that dummy (that means two things) and I have moved on.    I currently have my eye on a guy working as an agricultural vermin deterrent.  We will have to take it slowly though.  He is more of an outdoorsy type who likes to hang around in fields, but he has the most amazing stories about avian infestations.  I have no idea what that is, but he makes it sound awesome!!

Ta for now!  Q

Today I met a peanut!

Ohhhh Snap Dominick! You are so lucky he is married, or I would not even be talking to you right now.  I  got to meet Charles Tillman today.  What a dream.  I guess he is some kind of football player for Chicago.  I am not much of  sports fan, but he stood around and chatted with us for quite a while.  He even wound up wearing a StudioCalvin Bracelet.  How cool is that?  I never realized players spend a great deal of time thinking about what they will do in the event they score a touchdown.  Kinda fun getting an insight not many others get.

I must admit I felt kinda foolish, once I found out he was a celebrity I froze.  I seriously could not move. I don't even think I said a word I just stood there with a stupid grin on my face.  This was so much better than a water cooler.

We added collars and wallets to our catalog to day on ETSY, come see!!
new wallet
new large breed collar  Don't worry sheena, that one is still yours. :)
medium breed collar
Other wallet
Kitty collar

OK time for me to rest! see ya soon!!

Saturday on the town.

Hey everybody.  I got a rare treat tonight.  The boss let me go with them to see a movie in 3-D.  I of course  made the glasses look AWESOME!

The movie was called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part II.  I was not sure I was going to like it, because I had not seen part one, and come to find out there were six other parts before that. That is a lot of parts.   I know,  I know, before you say a word everybody here already asked me how it was possible that I had not heard of these movies before.   Let me just say where I come from there are even fewer movie theaters than there are pools ok?

Anyway the movie was really good.  I won't give you any details cause I don't want to spoil it, suffice it to say I was riveted,  completely unable to move through the entire movie.    There was stuff blowing up and there was  this one ugly guy with slits for a nose.  Come to think of it he reminded me of Dominick.   They are both butt heads.    A lot of stuff happens and then the lights came on and we left. (hows that for not giving anything away)

On the way out we had to give the glasses back so I can't show you a picture of how well I made them look, but trust me I did.

Thanks boss for getting me out of the house.  I had a great time.   Oh I almost forgot we went in Rob's car and I got to stand out of the sun roof the whole way.  That was fun too.   People were waiving and pointing.  I really am becoming quite the celebrity.  The only part that was not fun was when I got to taste a June bug at 40 miles and hour... plech!

OK that is it for now.  Goodnight all, thanks for stopping in.  Q

It can be made in any of the color combinations that the bracelets with one two or three colors.  The large collars have three feet of paracord per inch of length and take three to four hours make.    They are made with a black one inch  Weinerlock Contoured Plastic side release Buckle from National Moulding.

The collar pictured here is a prototype and does not have the contoured buckle.

These are very sturdy collars that look amazing!

Any dog would be proud to be seen in this collar
I think I'm gonna get a small one in neon pink it will look fantastic on my little purse dog... as soon as I get one.  Her name will be Tofuti.   I will paint her little toes to match the collar.  Anyway, Thanks for looking!   Q

Ok so here I am styling in my new pink bob!  Eat your heart out Dominick!  I think sports illustrated will be calling me now!

Teen let me use her UGG hat. Yeah I am betting right about now the UGG execs are mad that they didn't pay more attention to my resume!

Now this awesomely gorgeous lady is... ME! Yes, that's right  Do I rock it or what!  Green is SO my color. (but then they ALL are.)

This is what I like to call my magnificent huntress look.  No need to carry a rifle the lions will curl up at my feet. Yup I look that good.

I owe it all to Sheena! Well, and my flawless genetics.

OK that is it for now... Rob just stomped down stairs again, sometheing about  he forgot green hair and the mask.... I hope he does not mean that feet smelling thing again.

Ok Ciao for now!   Q

Dragon flies

I heard the big wigs talking about a new item they were looking into today.  Apparently they have learned how to make paracord knots look like a dragon fly.  I was a little nervous about having dragons in the area, but it turns out dragon flies are actually just flying bugs that gobble up mosquitos.  That is not scary at all!  So they set out to see if they were worth producing.

Turns out that a pink dragon fly is the symbol for a cancer survivor.  I am just learning all kinds of neat stuff here.  The Studio has made the first one for a dear friend of the boss, and three more for market.  They are not listed yet but there here is a sneak peak.  If you have any survivor friends this would be an awesome reminder of their inner strength and courage!

Oh oh oh!! I almost forgot!! I have new hair.  My biggest fan, and a person so famous they named a huge statue after her in Chicago's Millennium Park, got me two new sets of hair. One is an adorable pink bob, and the other is neon green!!  I am so gonna rock those!  I can't wait until the next shoot.

I had an interesting experience today, I got to see my boss turn four different shades of green,  I don't know how she did it, but it was amazing.  Seems Gabi the Studio mascot kitty decided that she did not want her breakfast anymore... about three hours after eating it.  So not only did it come up, but apparently Gabi is skilled at up chucking on the run.... as she ran under the bosses desk and across her feet.  First time I ever heard a cat and a human dry heaving at the same time.
(don't tell the boss I told you she did not enjoy that.)

That is it for tonight!  Thanks for stopping in. Q

home coming

The boss comes home today. I guess that means no more goofing off for me.  Just as well I guess.   I am down a ton of money from playing cribbage with pinky.

Who would ever guess that zombies are master card players?  Pinky says pretty much all zombies do is play cards, especially when they are on the movie sets between scenes.  That is another zombie fact I did not realize.  Zombies can only get jobs as, well, zombies in movies.  She says she hates the stereo types  (most zombies are actually vegetarians), but it is a good living.  Who knew.  All I know is that little runt can play cards!

We had another big storm here today.  I was not scared this time, but it was really windy.  I kept hearing: "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!"  I wonder what that was all about.

It is Monday!  You all know what that means!  Time for the "TDS Tidbit" so, here it is:

When the boss is away, the Quinnie may play, but it won't be with pinky for money anymore!

Goodnight everybody!!

New pinky pics

Rob groused at me for the pinky pic that was, well... anything but pink.  So here is the series that does her justice.

Zombie Bling

Rob do you mind if Pinky puts them up on her My space?  It is not like anybody will see them there anyway.  Q

How Awesome Is This!

OK, So my boss, Amanda, is off on a business trip out west, and will get to see her sister Sheena (my hair buyer.) My boss wanted to make a special gift for Sheena who is a major activist for animal rights.   Sheena has a monster FB page called I  speak for those who have no voice.   She is becoming quite the master at advocating against animal cruelty.   So to celebrate Sheena's success, Amanda created this back pack!  Sweet isn't it!  You deserve it Sheena! You are doing wonderful things and we are all very proud of you!
Click here to see her amazing page

Please like it to show support!!

Hee hee that is me modeling it for her.  She even got a matching bracelet.     Wow, I can even make a simple white tank top look amazing, but I digress.  Enjoy it Sheena!

Goodnight everybody!  Q

Pinky

I met Pinky today.  She is StudioCalvin's very first zombie-series doll.    I was not scared of her even a little bit.    She has pretty pink eyes and hair and even pink stitches.  Poor thing, but don't worry I asked her and she said they don't hurt a bit.  She even has a bit of bling.

Pinky says to say sorry for the quality of the picture, she took it with her phone for her my-space page.  ( I didn't know anybody still used My Space, but I didn't want to hurt her feelings)

Rob promises to take better pics tomorrow.   Maybe he will let me pose with her.  You know I always make every picture better.

You will find her on ETSY once she has a couple siblings to keep her company.   We don't want her getting lonely now do we?

Good night everybody!!

We have zombies!

OK, now that just scared me out of three years of my life.  The Boss' secret project is collectable zombie dolls.  They are kinda creepy if you ask me.  Especially when Rob thinks it would be a good idea for it to jump out in front of me when I was not even looking!  I think the only one who liked it less was the cat, Gabi.  Her eyes got as big as pie plates,  she jumped about 2 feet straight up and ran about 6 feet. She then stopped gave her shoulder an aggressive lick, gave Rob a dirty look and sauntered off.  Now that was funny.  Here is a picture of the doll.

Rob now apparently thinks he is all that and a bag of wasabi peas,  because he has a new duty in the shop... making polymer clay hearts for the dolls.  Each one different from the others.  I suppose it will make each zombie even more unique.

I hope you all had a great 4th!  I took the day off  so here is your "TDS Tidbit"  a day late ( I know you have been waiting!)

There are few things in life funnier than making a cat jump straight up in the air.

Thanks for dropping by come back soon!

Home made Ice-cream

Today I helped make home made Ice-cream!  Well, by helped I mean I stood there and watched.    I don't know how it works, they put the stuff in a silver container, and then covered it in ice, that makes sense so far, but then they poured salt on the ice to melt it.  If you don't want the ice there then why put it there in the first place?   40 minutes later it was Ice-cream.  And boy oh boy it was good!    I hope we do this all the time.    This is shaping up to be a great holiday weekend.  The boss has another super secret project in the works.  I can't tell you what it is, but it is going to be the first in a series.   (if you promise not to tell the competition you can get a sneak peak here:  Sneak peak of the next project  )

OK I know it is a holiday weekend, so I'll keep this brief.  Thanks for stopping in!  See ya next time. Q

My new look!

Today we added a new product to StudioCalvin that required... Well a unique look for me.    I never saw myself as a survivalist or even Steampunk. I have to admit, I make this look magnificent!

Before I get more into this look here is the link for the new product.
Click here to see our new product
There.  Sorry for the commercial, but it is part of my contract.
OK, so back to my shoot,
To the left I am sporting my awsome pink hair and a vintage WWII protective mask.  (don't tell Amanda, but it smells like feet)
Now in this picture you can see the custom sling.  The clothes I am wearing are Old Navy. Oh Snap! Dominick You wish you could make these look this good!
Here I am rocking out with my favorite  hair.  One of my best fans has promised me some awsome new hair, so this may not be my favorite for long.
To the right is what I like to call my casual zombie hunter look. It is just the thing on a hot summer day when the zombie infestation is minimal.
This one just makes me smile, and talk like Darth Vader... [breathing sounds] where are photographers from Vogue?... [breathing sounds]
This one is my total camo look, no hair so I can really blend in.  I am apocalypse ready baby!
This is me, looking at you... saying.... Thanks for stopping in!
see ya next time!

no power

The power just went out. At first I was so scared I could not move. Then I just stood there a while and listened to a completely silent house. That was even creepier. I tried to whistle just to make a little noise. But no luck. My mouth was bone dry. Rob came down to check the sump pump what ever that is, and calmed me down. So now I stand here in the dark I guess this is better than trying to swim. I wonder if power is out at the old navy. Dominick is probably needing to change into unsoiled board shorts. He is such a whimp. ok everybody. Time to get some rest! Good night. Q

what a day!

Today was... well lets just say it was interesting.   It was pretty hot out today, so the boss decided we should take half the day off and go swimming.  I have never been swimming before.  I know that seems odd, but where I come from there simply are not a lot of swimming pools.  Anyway, I figured why not.  The pool is not too deep, and I could just get in splash a bit and cool off.

I was gonna save this for Mondays TDS Tidbit, but I will share it now.  Apparently we mannequins do NOT float.  Well, not for very long anyway.  I had bubbles coming out of everyplace!  Talk about your water weight gain!!  So, I figured I would just get out and work on my tan.   I was draining for 15 minutes.... heck I didn't drain that much after two days by the water cooler.

The tanning attempt was pretty much unsuccessful too.  I was laying out for three hours and I don't think I am even a shade darker.

After that I started my own Facebook page.  Now that was a fun time.  So many wonderful people out there.  I am hoping Fons and Porter accept my friend request!!

To all my wonderful blog followers, and all my new Facebook friends, I wish you a very good night!
Q

So much for the water cooler

Hi everybody,  thanks to all of you who are following me now.  It is very exciting.

Well, I am back in the basement now waiting for my next textile display session.  Not that one is in the near future.... sigh.... apparently I scared the bejeebers out of the boss yesterday.  I don't know how.  Amanda knew I was there. Heck I had been there since the day before.  She walked in to the kitchen, and let out a yelp that actually made me jump.  Next thing I know I am back downstairs, but it is ok  it gives me more time to tell everybody about my day.

Dominick, my Old Navy TDS friend has stopped talking to me.  He says I am getting to snooty what with having my own blog following.  No big loss.  To be honest I think he secretly wants to work at Victoria's Secret. [burn]  Besides, I would rather meet a nice Buckle or American Eagle TDS...

That is all for now.  I need to practice my pose.  You never know when the next display session will be.

Q

P.S. Fons and Porter I'm still waiting to hear from you... I can help hold quilts on your show... I would be awesome!

Rule 32, enjoy the little things

Christeen worked late last night and didn't even say hi to me when she came home and I was standing right by the water cooler.  How rude.  So this morning, she came downstairs to eat breakfast before class and  I just smiled at her.  She liked to jump right out of her skin.  It made me giggle.  Rule 32 enjoy the little things.

I really do love my job

What an amazing day!  So, I was hanging around the water cooler and I had literally been there for hours just standing around shooting the breeze with anybody who passed by.  When all of the sudden the Boss comes down.  I thought I was canned for sure!  Did she fire me? NO!
In fact she noticed that my sandal had come undone and she fixed it for me.

Did you notice?  They are letting me wear the StudioCalvin Bracelet. It is awesome!

You can get the bracelet here.

Hee Hee now I can tell my boss I did SOME work today.

What a great place! I got to hang out at the water cooler ALL DAY!  Nobody even cared.  This is my kind of job  I think I will make Mondays my TDS Tidbit day.   At the end of every Monday after a day of water cooler introspection, I will share a morsel of Textile Display Specialist wisdom with you.

I will say goodnight with this TDS Tidbit :   The leading cause of death among fashion models is falling through street grates.
